Access Virus C - Robotic Voices

Is anyone familiar with creating robot voices through the vocoder on the Access Virus C? We have a very specific application whereby we need to create lots of different robot voices... Nothing more. However, everything has to fit into a rack and we DO NOT have the space for a separate external synthesiser / keyboard.

So I'm wondering if the Access Virus C will allow us to simply use a mic along with the built in vocoder and synth in order to get lots of different robot voices? Or will we need to use a separate external synth (which would be a deal killer for us)...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Warren

There are quite a few software vocoders you can get..otherwise use the built in vocoder, although I dont think it is the best that you can get...

You will also need a mic pre-amp to use the Virus vocoder. But it doesn't need to be a particularly hi end one. I don't think that a good mic/preamp setup will give you better results than a cheaper setup so long as the signal is strong enough. A cheap preamp like those ART's is pretty small as well.

An alternative would be to get one of the EHX vocoders and use the Virus to provide the carrier signal. They have a small vocoder that is in a box not much bigger than a deck of cards. Sounds pretty good too.
