Anyone using an AKAI MPKxx with a Virus?

Hey all, new to this board. This is my first hardware synthesizer, but I am not new to music or DAWs.

Tried connecting my AKAI MPK25 to my Virus Snow this morning but it would not read my Midi controller.

Anyone know what the correct way is to link these two up?

I've got the AKAI MPK connected to the computer USB for power, and a midi cable from MIDI OUT on the AKAI to the MIDI IN on the Virus.

It wasn't recieving anything so I'm thinking there's a routing issue.

Also, I heard I can use my Virus as a soundcard. I have an M-Audio fast track usb which sucks so maybe I'll just use the Virus SC.

Thanks.

Basically a shortened version of what I'm asking is:

Can I have the output of my midi controller hooked up to the midi input on the virus and have the virus output that through the USB? OR do I need to get a MIDI out from the Virus and put that into the computer?

I'd suggest you hook them both up to your DAW and do the midi routing from there. what software are you using?

yes, you can use the virus as an audio device. and it will probably outperform your m-audio box, too.

I'm using FL8. I got the Virus working this morning just via piano roll, but not with the MPK. I was figuring the same thing.

Also, is there a problem with the USB cable that comes with the Virus? I was having problems connecting and I used the short cable with the Akai on the Virus and it started working. Perhaps just a glitch.

Did you connect both the power supply and usb connection to the Akai...???

i have a mpk49 and ti2

just use the usb cable for the akai and your pc, no need for midi cable

in your sequencer then select the akai, thats all
