Anyone here with a waldorf Q?

For the most part I find the Waldorf Q too cold and the ocilators lack soul.

If you want the cold digital feelling then its really good.....unbeatable! But for me, I need a digital synth to sound as warm as possible. Cold digital sounds get very tiring on the ears (I discovered that with the Casio CZ3000).

Waldorf Q is really good for industrial, sci-fi, certain kinds of ambient music.

I was going to buy one....but weirdly enough my UK dealer advised me not to. Apparently their products have reliability issues and Waldorf as a company are not that easy to deal with. Dont take my word as Gospel though.....that was what I was told....and it maybe totally untrue.

If you seriously thinking of buying a Q then I would suggest u go pick up a 2nd hand one....just in case.

i've played with the q a couple of times
i think its great
cold yeah, kind of... but sounds great! realy is a great synth to have
it sounds totaly different from all the other va's in my opinion
realy under estimated synth if you have the money you should get it

Q

The Q has an amazing range of sounds, from an incredibly clear lead to a distorted sound of a huge anvil being struck, and a q rack s/h goes for only about ?500-600, which is a steal! But yes the sounds are pure digital, and probably not quite as rich as the virus.
You could always get one and then get a cheapish analog filter / overdrive when you want to warm it up a bit, especially if the filter / overdrive has real valves!

I would imagine if u want to get rid of that cold feeling to get the Q+ with the analogue filters, im sure that will warm everthing up a bit...I personally like the sound and when i get the money im going to buy 2 pulses and a Q+...

hmmm...don't know. Is money a object??? If it's not i'd go with the Andromeda. But you can get a couple of other synthersizers for the price of it.

Too tell you the truth after having the nord lead 3 for a couple of month now, i'm not very impressed...ok ok it's good but not that much better than my nordlead1. I actually think my nordlead1 has more "punch" to it???I don't really like novation stuff that much other than v-station and bassStation so i'd rule novation out to. My pulse is the shit...only 1 voice and hard to program though. Nord G2 Modular seems like to much hassle...

I would buy a Pulse and maybe a micro q(still reseaching on this beauty) and a nord rack2...and still get away much cheaper than with a andromeda, nordlead3, g2modular
