[unsolved] Problem with 1024 sounds update

Hiya all, hope u can help!!!

I have a Virus C and a PC with a SBlive (w/ MIDI out & in connections).

I hook up the virus: SBlive MIDI out > virus MIDI in; SBlive MIDI in > virus MIDI out.

I install Sounddiver, it scans automatically for the virus...but it doesn't detect it!!!

I tried adding manually, swapping around the cables, without any success. The only thing I can think of is that my MIDI in port doesn't show in my hardware config (SBlive MIDI out [D000] does show in the config).

Does anyone have experience in this, knows how to solve it, or maybe have a way around this problem?
I'd like to install my 1024 sounds!!!!!
Tx in advance!!!

I havent actually used sounddiver yet!! so i cant help u with any sounddiver questions......but if its just installing the 1024 patches and OS updates youre after, have u tried doing it from your sequencer instead?

just an idea

I thought sounddiver was a sort of a sequencer.... :(
In any case I thought sounddiver was specially designed for uploading those sounds!!!!

So it's possible to do this through Cubase for instance? I just got that one recently, is there something about it in the manual? Or would you mind explaining to me?

Tx for the quick reply, grtz Noshado

No. SoundDriver is a program that messes up your patches.

How do I do check whether the virus is connected properly? If not through the scan of Sounddiver? :(
I know I have to put the Virus in SysEx mode 2 times (both pages)....then what? (assuming I use Cubase)

When sounddiver starts up press ESC to stop it searching for the virus.

Now goto Open Install. Click on the version you have then press add.

Then goto Open Device. On the table to the left select the midi port its connected to.

Now goto options - Midi Interface Communictaion and deselect the `check midi connections on startup`

Now have a go at requesting or transmitting a patch.

Hopefully its worked.

:D

yes its possible...thats how i upload sounds and new OSs and the like...i use cubase too...i dont use sounddiver at all, i usually program patches from the knobs of the VC itself....

the way u had the VC setup was fine before (midi wise)...should be no problem...just make sure cubase isnt sending midi clock or anything to the VC when u upload patches.....u just import the 1024 patch midi file into cubase (on a midi channel)...press play on cubase with the virus on, then the virus should show that its recieving the data...wait till its finished then press store to burn the rom...make sure u dont touch the thing, or cause any power prob at this stage.....but u have probably read that in the manual already i guess...

as far as sounddiver is concerned..it really looks like tommy is the one to talk about that!

Just use Windows Media Player to load any midi sysex type file.
