Gave a house tune a try!
EDIT: this track has been removed from electromancer as they will only allow 4 tracks at one time online (unless you pay them), so i removed this one to put another one up.
Because I've listened to a few tracks from GeN recently, he inspired me to finish off a house track I started a while ago. This is my first bash at a house track, so please pick it to pieces guys. The track is called "So U Wanna" Go to the link in my signature, then just play or download the track. |
Good sound. Some of the melodies (especially the flute) were way too stiff and sounded cheap. And I would like to hear a funky bass line on this one.
|
Sounds cheap? Certainly! But it's funky and (strangely?) catchy!
I like this! The track is quite empty compared to commercial house tracks but still quite cool. Nice work. Paul |
thanks for listening pdc!

It is indeed catchy - I would add some some modulated delay to the flute/pan pipe motif to give it a more psy-trippy feel.

Whew, I finally inspired someone 8)
To your song: Yes, it is quite empty and chilled... the flute and some other instruments sound like midi... I liked the chords which sound funky. But I have to agree to Juho that the flute-riff is kinda cheap. The song as a whole reminds me a bit of International Pony :) I hope you continue your House-digression :) |
Nice n' catchy tune. The flute feels a little Art of Noise'ish - cheap?? Hell yea, but /ME likes :)
midi rulez  .h?kan |
thanks for all the feedback guys!
because house isnt the type of music i usually get into or do - i had no idea what sounds to use! hense the cheap feel i guess  im actually working on another 4-beat track at the moment...a little more on the out of control side though - so it fits me much better than "So U Wanna". thanks again fellas! |
What about the female vocals? I would have tried to lift them a bit in the mix. When doing vocals I usually record the same thing twice, on differents tracks, but keep it really tight! That certainly adds a great lift for vocals. Then some paning, effects and eq and they're really standing out. But maybe that's not the way to go with house? Not really my type of music either... The process of getting two different tracks of a voice line sometimes require a lot of "erase and rewind" , especially with long lines...
