Building a small home studio.
Hi,
during next year, I'm going to build (let it build) my own dream house :D . So, maybe this is a perfect time to take some precautions in order to build a small (15 m^2) home studio. Are there any websites that deal with this problem :?: Thanks in advance. |

Did you planned to build a single room or a splitted room with dedicated recording space?. |
what about a vocal booth?

Actually a dedicated recording space is a must because it's annoying if you have a computer humming on the background. Just a thin wall with a window to split the room and it might even be cheaper because you have only to cover half of the original room with acusto paltes. Edit: The old trick is to cover walls with superlon and add a layer of egg cartons on the superlon. Does the same trick as acusto plate, but is cheaper and ugly. |
my friend has egg cartons all over his walls
its damn ugly but it works  |
egg cartons do absolutely nothing, except maybe diffuse extremely high frequencies, which dont cause resonance in rooms anyways as they are higher than the rooms critical frequency.
They definately wont stop bass from leaking out, and definately wont stop outside sounds coming in, unless you have thick concrete walls underneath those egg cartons. |
