Softsamplers?

I've used an old version of Nemesys giga sampler for some time, but the problem is that it doesn't include an effect section. I'll have to record my drum tracks to audio, and then add some effects. Is there a way around this, or do I need some other software?

You could use a virtual audio cable thats available for windows to route it to your sequencer.

But the new GigaSampler 3 will have Rewire and also there is a Vst wrapper for GigaSampler which is in development. due to be released soon.

On the other hand you could go totally for a new soft sampler, perhaps something like kontakt or halion would suit your needs.

Kontakt is very nice. I bought it and it has done very good job. Though I'll be going to use it only for big multi sampling since I'll get the A4000.

Kontakt looks really nice. Do you know if it needs much processor power? My giga sampler hardly doesn't need anything, but I suppose that the effect section in kontakt need some. I've got enough RAM, but I'm only using a Pentium III 550Mhz...

Before you go out and spend your money on a new bit of software look at this:

I think this could be the mother of all software samplers to be. It runs using Emu`s new dsp chip and is apparently using the same OS as the hardware samplers.

Well Kontakt doesn't need much if you're using it without effects and othe stuff.

It's quite hard to say how much it loads your CPU since I have 1,4GHz Athlon.

I checked the box. Minimum requirements is 400MHz processor so it sohuld work.
