Big gigantic bug??? (solved)
Hi,
I think I have found a new bug on my Virus C. I don't know if it always did this, maybe it did and I never realised it, but it is quite irritating given what i want to do with the track I am working on at the moment. Quite simply: whenever I change the "second output" destination for a patch in one of my multi's ALL the patches in that multi use that output as their second output, and the display on the LCD recognises this as well. This is VERY irritating. I can't output one patch on the secondary outputs to my compressor whilst rerouting another sound internally into the ringmod of another patch. The fact that the virus has 6 outputs has been rendered completely useless because I can only use a maximum of four (two stereo pairs) at a time. hngngnngngmdgmaiseeerrnnn (frustration noise). Has any one else had this problem? Any one know what to do about it? It is pissing me off big time. Cheers evry1. PS can everyone only set one destination for their LFO3? I can. I wondered whether this was a bug in my machine or if it was meant to be this way, I always assumed it was just meant to be this way but I guess I will just ask here to make sure. |
I have also some problems with same thing.( virus c )
when I'm in multisingle mode, and go to the different parts and choose what output they're going to be, they still come out from out1 :S eks. I set part 2 on out2 L+R and part3 on out3 L+R, these sounds doesn't come out where they should come. they come out in out1 L+R I haven't done anything with this problem, or found a solution, cause I rarely use is in multisingle mode. But it would be nice to get it fixed though edit: yes, I can also only set 1 destination on my LFO3. |
Have you got the second release of OS 6.5? If I remember correctly the first one they sent out was reproted to cause your virus's symtpoms. I think they sent out a second release which solved this.
Have you downloaded the latest firmware from the Virus website? |
what build are you guys running?
i know you guys are running OS 6.5, but what build? there was a problem with output routing with one of the earlier builds of OS 6.5. |
Thanks a lot for your help everyone!
Yeah I was running the first build of OS 6.5... I downloaded the newest one and everything is fine! Thanks again for your help. Also, sorry to the administrators if this was posted in the wrong forum. I will post messages like this in troubleshooting section in future, I bookmarked the general discussion page and neglected to put this post in the right place. Cheers, T. |

It's back... (UNSOLVED)
Hi everyone,
Not long after I made my last post on this thread, the output bug returned. I put up with it for a while, but now I'm involved in a project that really needs to use some pretty complex routing routines, and not being able to use my virus is EXTREMELY annoying. I'd love to know if anybody else has had this problem, and if they fixed it. It went away for a little while after i installed build 352. Now it's back, and it won't go away. I've tried reinstalling 352, a build of OS5, and even build 350 of OS6 (even though that was the one that caused the problem in the first place). Under every operating system, the problem stays there. I've tried using different multi saves (out of desperation, don't know why I thought it'd change anything), and still nothing. This really, really sucks. Cheers, Tom. |
how do you changed the title from "solved" to "unsolved" on the thread title? I'm worried that nobody will see my problem! I guess I could post into a new thread...

What is the benefit of using multi's in your project? Why dont you just record each part in single mode? I know this isnt addressing the issue you have, but one thing that I have come to realise about modern synths is this: They are not worth stressing over!
Its funny, but I use my Virus kc just like a real analog, I get great results and I get no problems at all. It seems that when peopel start using the more advanced features of modern synths....that this is were the little buggies lie. You should check out the forums for Clavia, Waldorf, ALesis etc etc, they all tell the similar stories. *Your issue is unfortunate, but maybe you have indeed highlighted a bug. Im sure that at some point in the near future it will be rectified. DS |
I think you'll find this is how it is meant to be.
The Second Output parameter is designed to provide a simple surround sound functionality - i.e. being able to send a signal to a stereo channel set up behind the listener by panning between this and the main stereo channel using the Surround Balance parameter. It doesn't make sense that every Multi part have a different Second Output, as this would imply that the Virus was capable of panning a single sound between 3 different stereo channels! So, what this boils down to is that Surround Output is basically a Global parameter which is accessed via the Single Edit menu, and just like Tempo, can only be set to one value for all parts. The parameter I suspect you may be looking for is in Multi Edit, and is called 'OutSel'. Here is where you select any one or pair of the six available outputs to which the part will be routed. Hope that makes sense! -=Ben |
