problems with virus 2 need help..

Hello i'm trying to set up my virus in my setup.. at this time the virus is connected as master in my setup. I also got 2 other synths connected. The problem i came across is that when i go to multi, you have all midi channels from 1 till 16 for youre virus.. but i don't want that, i also want my other 2 synths be used in my sequencer.. So my question basicly is how can i set up my virus correct and use multi not on all 16 channels. Let's say i want 1-10 for my virus and 11-16 for my other equipment.. i hope someone could help me with this..

greetz.. :?:

you can easily turn off the virus parts, so they will not respond to incoming midi. all you have to do is (when in multi-mode) look for part enable on/off, then turn the part off...

if you are using a VC, please look at page 111 of the manual.

The easiest way is to get a midi interface, if you can spare some cash. Then you will get a midi out for each synth. Otherways you want be able to record controller data etc from all the synths.

if his virus knobs (or knobs off his controller keyboard) can control all the parameters of his other gear, he may not need to record controller data from anything else. just let his master/controller keyboard control it all.

Is that really possible if all the gear is connected in a single chain? How do you determine which synth to control?

yep, with most gear (well all gear ive used) you can assign the midi channel/channels they will use.

before using the computer sequencer, i used a very basic hardware sequencer (1midi in/ 1midi out) and a ran 4 synths from that all using the thru ports.

you asked "How do you determine which synth to control?" the only synth going into the midi in of the sequencer will be the controller (in a plain setup). as long as that synth has heaps of knobs it usually can do pretty much everything on all the gear.
