Worth updating from Rack Classic?

I have the Virus rack Classic and I absolutely love it. I've read all about the Virus C and it too is obviously brilliant. Do people think it worth updating to VC baring in mind I haven't a huge amount of cash? I haven't heard the Virus C, is it a lot better than the classic?

it would be better to sell your rack and get a c insted of paying the 400-500 update for the rack to xl

I wouldn?t change a Virus Rack to a Virus C. I think there?s not much different in these two (B and C). It costs way too much. If you don?t nesessarily need the real-time controls then I wouldn?t do it. You can buy the new Alesis ION with that money for example. Think about it.

...And the upgrade is definetly not worth it.

i wouldnt upgrade if i were you either.

you have the virus sound with what you are using. spend the money on a new sound pallet IMO.

Interesting topic. I've also got the Rack classic and have thought about moving to a C instead. I agree that the Rack sounds very good, but the C offers yet another oscillator and Eq, isn't the sound of the C alot better? Or maybe I should just ask when you need three oscillators simultaneously? For something other than pads?

also you forgot to mention the extra modulation routings and fm modes.

the thing is though, you are likely to lose money selling the rack and then spend more money to get a similar sound.

you can always just layer patches to thicken up the sound (instead of using a 3rd osc), use eq on a desk and run some outboard effects. the only thing you can't match is the modulation routings, fm and the new filter.

with the money u save from not upgrading you can get something with an entirely new sound!
