My first sound!
 

Hello!

Although this is not really my first attempt at sound designing, this is the first one I have deemed worthy to save, so I thought I would post it up here to see if I get the forums "Thumbs up!" Or "Back to the drawing board.."

Ive just listened to your sound! The sound definitely has potential - However, it did sound a little flat to me.....the recording sounding a little muffled as well. Try shifting oscilator 2 up one octave, select a digital waveform for oscilator 3 and use some extreme EQ. Now see how it sounds.....

As I say, its a sound with potential. What do others think?

Well my suggestions may or may not improve things. If you want to send me the .mid file of that sound....Ill show you what I'd do with it.

Excuse my ignorance, but how would I go about getting the .MID file of the patch? I have never needed to before and would'nt know where to start.

Quite a nice sound there mate.

It reminded me of Star wars for some reason - don't ask me why though.

If it were my sound though, I would tame down the noise (or change the noise colour a little). Also I'd add some modualtion to aftertouch or something.

My advice with programming, if you are spending too much time programming and nothing is working out - press the random button! hehe

That is my usual techinque, but then I never know exactly what I am doing, so I decided to slow down and actually try to understand what I am tweaking, and how it will/is affecting my sound. Im a bit of a techno-geek I guess?

When it comes to programming synths, there is very little you can learn from books. It takes time and patience, alot of hours beside your synth are needed. Just practice and practice and after a while you will start to make better and better sounds. Take HopllowCell for example.....he pesters me all the time for 'synth secrets' and I keep telling him that he needs to spend more time heheheheheeheheheheeeh

Yep, been there and done that. Although once setting up random so it effects just the right amount of parametres in just the right amount, it works great. Try these simple steps - 1. press random. 2. press undo 3. press random. 4. press random. 5. press undo and tweak until the sound fits nicely - patch created. Hehehe.

But I agree, best to learn the thing inside out first. :wink:

Mate......you certainly do know your sh*t!!!!! I did exactly what you said and my sound has improved heaps! I will replace it on the link at the start of this post.....
