Roland juno-106

What do you think about juno-106 in general. I could buy one for 400euros and I was thinking if someone has tried it.

ive tried the juno 60
amazing fat sound
great for basses, sweet pulse sub basses and punchy saw basses
capable of some nice leads
thats about it... its not a realy programeble synth with complex fetures but in what its suppose to do it does well...

Nice synth for sure. They have been selling so cheap here and I have been thinking of buying one just for the hell of it.

Be carefull about the voice chips - I have heard that many have been failing recently. Make sure all the voices are working before you buy.

Forget the 106, the 60 sounds a bit warmer and fatter. The Juno's are really great for thick dark drones, arpegio bass, juno leads and simple Juno pads. Overall they sound classic.

Heres some Juno 106 in action Nice!

and......

Most simple/beutiful Juno pad known to man!

I owned the Juno 60 for some time (it was my first analog poly.....then I traded it towards a Jupiter 8 heheheheh). Get a 60 over the 106.....they are more reliable and sound better.

Is it true that the 60 doesnt have MIDI, and the 106 does?

Hollowcell 09.08.2004 04:45 AM

Yep it is Jase.

Although the 60 doesn't have midi it is supposed to be warmer than the 106. I'm not sure though as I've never used a 60.

The 106 are dirtcheap here aswell Unio - 400 euro's sound quite much for a 106.

I would never pay more than 300 Euro's for one in perfect condition.

I had the worst time with my Juno-106's. I bought one used from Sam Ash. I tested it out and it seemed to work, but when I got it home, I realized that the 6th voice sub osc didn't work. I brought it back and traded it for another Juno-106 (for some reason, this store had two at the time). This one seemed ok, until I got it home and realized that the 6th voice saw wave didn't work. When I tested it, I had only square and sub activated. doah! I brought it to a licensed service center who held onto it for about four months. After that time, they gave it back to me un-repaired. I got my money back and bought a JD-990 instead. I'm happy now. I have enough analog/VA anyway...
