[unsolved] dead virus C desktop :(
 

Hello

My UK Virus C Desktop was fried at a gig in Germany on Saturday. I think it was plugged into a power extension with a bad connection, so the power went on and off rapidly. Now it will not switch on. I tried it with the power supply from a german Virus B desktop and still it was dead. Does the UK C work with a German B power supply? I have also tried it with a generic 12v supply, with no luck.

So really i need to know if the virus c works with a virus b power supply or a generic power supply. Then I can work out what to do next...

Well, I guess its possible its been overloaded. I dont know whether fitting some kinda European psu is gonna help it. You should get in contact iwth ur distributer (TurnKey I guess?) and tell those bozoos that they damaged it LOL.

Those arsehols really screwed 4 of my Virus KC's up.

Sorry to hear about this problem. Ur next step has got to be 'send it back and get a tech guy to look at it'. You never know it may be ok :)

Not sure about the power supply differences between a C and B either, but I just wanted to say sorry for your loss.

Hopefully it will be sorted out soon. There was another guy on this forum who overloaded his Virus too (Blueswan I think). Maybe searching for that thread could be a good idea to find out what he did about it.

Yes, BlueSwan fried his Virus C connecting it to the wrong powersupply. He send it for repairs and paid around 150 euro to get it repaired. :)

Yes, the power adaptor for a B will work fine for a C. A German one will work fine as well - the only difference is that they are 2-pin.

If you're lucky, it will just be a fuse inside the Virus that's blown..

BTW - was it your album 'Super User' that was highly recommended to me by a friend the other day? - I'm just off to order it now! Any Virus on it?

Yes - the album was called super user. It came out a few years ago now. The main synth on that was the chip synth on my amiga 1200.... but there is lots of virus on my new EP thats coming out shortly on bug klinik . Its called the egg abuser ep.
