Controlling Virus parameters from within Cubase
Can this be done and if so how?
I want to record some automation data in Cubase and apply it to various parameters of the virus - the filter cut-off to be precise. Any ideas? Thanks in advance 8) |
Yes it can be done.
Sorry to say this but, read the manual - at the back it has a list of the CC messages and what they control. If you know the CC's but don't know how to do it in Cubase then, guess what read the Cubase manual. If you are still stuck then let me know and I or someone else will I'm sure try to detail the process for you. |

Thanks for your help guys! - I should be able to manage it from here 8)

is there a way to assign cc numbers to automation lines whithin the arrenger window?
controling by cc within the midi editor is so uncomfortable and unsmooth. maybe this use to work in 92 but were in 04 now :D |
Good question - I would have thought there is a VST plugin that should be able to do this - not sure what it is though.
With SX 3 you can kinda do this - as you can have the step designer viewable in the main arrangement window. I would be interested if anyone knows how to do this. In the meantime I am going to play around with the MIDI devices stuff and see if automation can be mapped that way. Martyn |
tell us what you find out :)

Yep! The new sx3 has increased support for hardware synths through special device maps. This means that you can make your hardware synths appear like a vsti with a nice gui! Also, you can have separate automation lines for hardware synths just like the vsti:s you have!
Nice! The only thing you need is to have a device map for each synth. Luckily, a map for the Virus C is incuded on the SX DVD! Good luck! |
