OS update for virus a [unsolved]

hi!

i have a problem to update the os for my virus a.

installed: os 2.01
would like to switch: os 2.8

following steps i tryed, without success:

1. downloaded the german update from the AV site and unziped
2. import the midi file in cubase sx
3. select the midi port for my virus a
4. select midichannel 1
5. set the tempo to 60 bpm

6. select following settings on my AV
- global midichannel - 1
- midi dump rx - enable
- midi control low page - sysex
- midi control high page - poly prs
- prg chg - enable
- midi device id - omni
- memprotect - off

7. hit playbutton in cubase

on the virus display "SE" is blinking
but nothing else. no "os-update" or no progressbar

??

after mid.file dubbing, the virus is in normaly standby for example play keynotes. after switching off/on the virus in the display i still reading "os version 2.01"

but dumping new soundpatches at the same procedure works!!??

what i'm doing wrong?

please help!

Don't you have to put the Virus A into OS update mode before you install a new OS? Try holding Store when you Power On and see if that helps..

that is it!

thanks a lot.

i meant the update mode is only for transfer the os from one virus to another virus. that's i dont tryed.

thanks again!

with the virus A that's true. with the newer models, you don't need the update mode to receive an OS

best, marc
