Designing an Electric Bass
Been tryin to get a good sounding bass simulation, but can't keep it from sounding too 'electronic'. My bandmate is angry
Any suggestions? I already went through a lot of the soudsets from the access site. Lev |

For best results achieving a 'real' bass sound.....just use a bass guitar! Simple, really......If this is not an option, try something like a Motif or Triton, or something like HALion, or Reason Sampler (NN19) etc The Virus would be the last place I go looking for a 'real' bass sound... So, how did you find my advice? Gosh, I knew you wouldnt like it! :) Good luck! |
Not sure if you have Trilogy but that is the FIRST place I go looking for any kind of bass sound.
Nothing comes close (apart form the original insturments its recorded from obviously). |
Samplers, or ROMpler's are your friend.

elec bass
Don't forget about physical modelling G2, Z1. Reaktor is pretty impressive with elec bass. :)

The G2 will do it!!! Have fun gettting the money for it tho!!

Hmmm.. gonna have to disagree a little with the general consensus here.
You CAN program a picked bass sound, in particular think 70's Fender Precision. Use one Osc, set to PULSE with a width of about 25% to begin with. You'll have to play with the width to find the right "sweetspot". Set Freq Cutoff about half way open. One of the best I've heard is in the Reason Factory Sound Set. It's a Subtractor patch called "Bass Gtr" I believe. |
I have a stand up bass sound i have made...but to be honest to be authentic its not as easy as that..."similar" is not always what ppl are going for...
