Tis the most important question!!!!

As combining different Amps with Monitors will give vastly different results

Im afraid Im of no help here, I am using powered monitors, and just an old Technics A-Class amp for my Hi-Fi

I think the general rule is: Amp needs to be at least 1.5 times the power (in Watts) than the speakers, to allow for good headroom. Just keep that in mind.

for AU$500 I'd be looking at second hand pro hi-fi amp. I bought a 'studio amp' for AU$750 but after carful listening I prefer an old Luxman amp or the like.

Best thing would be to learn about amps, buy reading heaps of technical details of the design of amps. What is Class-A or Class B or differential and negative feedback?

Good luck.
