Linux DAWs
hi
a friend sent to me these links, so what do u think about music production on linux? do u think it can be developed, the firt Juno plugin emulator was developed under linux by the way (the Ultramaster Juno-6) ! http://www.apo33.org/apodio/wakka.ph...PagePrincipale http://www.agnula.org/ EDIT: sorry the Apodio link is in french! |
Linux has lots of coders working on it. Multiple times more than any closed source OS. If a group of talented programmers interested in music production would start developing studio Linux, I see no reason why it couldn't be done. I actually believe if it would be done it would be quite superb OS that would easily beat Windows XP and Mac OSX.
If it would be done I'd consider moving to it. |

If Linux will keep developing as fast as it does from the begining of his existance -
i'll move to Linux completely at year 2025 ! :D |

I haven't yet moved to Linux because of bad support for audio software. |

Oh man,
do check out dyne:bolic (http://www.dynebolic.org/ ) a standalone Linux DVAW that runs from CD. Easy to roll your own dream-setup/config and clone it to CD. It includes full audio-infrastructure (jack, alsa) and a load of audio and video software, all ready to run. -diskonext |
