Mastering
 

Some of u have heard the traditional Venezuelan recordings I have been doing with a mate of mine.....

Well, things are kinda taking off and the album is being launched sometime in Feb, with publicity/promotion happening from next week, so we thought we'd better get our asses into gear and get the album mastered.

We thought about doing the "home" thing, thought about doing the " some guy who thinks he is a mastering engineer at home" thing, and eventually decided to bite the bullet and get it done proper.

We booked in at 301 Mastering, and I must say the results are awesome. Spent a fair bit, especially for a broke musician & his engineer, but the result has turned this 'bedroom recording' into something professional.

Hehehe.....well, because of the nature of the recordings, it was quite a quick job, and we escaped paying less than $800 (AUD)

But thats just the tip of the iceberg.......next is duplication/artwork!

And then all the schmoozing at the launch.....sheesh! The engineer I have been assiting recently has offered to be guest speaker at the launch, and put us in touch with his publicist....it's quite scary really, I still just feel like some punk with a computer and a mic

Purpose of post? If u guys are doing songs that u think are serious, or albums etc....get it mastered by a pro! It helps so much if the person mastering has a fresh pair of ears, and the equipment necessary. We put the songs through some old EMI filters/EQ, a 'Tubetech' valve compressor, and Focusrite RED/BLUE EQ/Compression. Analogue madness!!!!
