Vocoder TI?
 

Has anyone heard of a vocoder being on the machine? I can't see why they would drop such a great tool from the spec (VIrus C) but i can't find a damn thing about it. I figured that there was none after looking so much untill I looked closer at a picture of the desktop module in Sound On Sound's magazine.
The display says 'Vocoder' right on it! Its really hard to tell with the web shot but it's plain as day in the magazine. Any clues?http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/dec0...d05923c1db667f

apparently the vocoder will be exactly the same as the one that appears in the c series :roll:

That's kinda bugging me...
I'm surprised that the effects and vocoder section seem to be unchanged on the TI series!

However, I could understand why(to make it backward compatible)...
But maybe a new reverb, or a more flexible delay could be great!
Or as DS says, new filter types!

OR, a feature that would be a MUST in my opinion...A greater EQ! Or a Comp ;)

At least there is going to be one! Thanks for letting me know. I've never had the chance to work with a hardware vocoder. This should be liberating. I don't see why the effects wouldnt be expanded on it though. The whole machine has been more effect laden. 16 delays, 16 reverbs, for each part, that kind of thing.

If it's anything like the C Vocoda, then it probably won't be that liberating at all. I rekon they'll change it for the TI though - here's hoping.

Very rarely has anything ever changed in the Virus - only extras bolted on top, so I wouldn't hold your breath ;) (I certainly wouldn't grumble if they could add more bands though. )

Bear in mind that there will be a plethora of new carrier waves, courtesy of the new oscillators, and they might turn out to make a difference to the effectiveness of the vocoder - you will find that amongst the existing spectral waves, there are some that are much more suited to vocoding than others..

I just really want a functional Vocoder. I've never experimented with one and for some reason I can't stomach using a Software plug in for it. Does anyone have some Voco soundbytes to post?

Thanks for the link! Thats a pretty good article. i was surprised by how the virus sounded. i always thought it would be more clear than that
