does a synthesis dictionary exist?

Hi all. Is there any book or guide about synthesis? Like a tutorial or dictionary on what waves certain sounds are based, etc... ?

Just recently I started to make my own sounds more seriously, but sometimes I simply cant get where I want due to lack of knowledge and I cant find any website with any tutorials or really useful info on synthesis.

Is there any book about it? Not the typical science books, but more like a sound dictionary.

If there isnt, is reverse-engineering presets the way to learn?
