Virus Ti: no vocoder?! + which processor do they use?..
Hi,
Maybe I overlook something on the Access site, but I don't see any mentioning of a vocoder for there new Virus TI. Does that mean the TI won't have it?! Second, they mention the Ti will have a "Dual-DSP core", but what does that mean, like do they use CPU's in that thing like we use, like a recent Pentium or Athlon CPU or something else. Which CPU do they use, and what do they mean with "dual"?! |
no they use Motorola chips, not standard processors like the athlon or pentium series.

I'm pretty certain that Access have said that the vocoder is included and it is the same as on the C.

Yes, the DSP is like a processor (Intel, AMD e.t.c.) as that is what it does -process (Digital Signal Processor) Dual means that there is another processor in the Ti on top of the single processor used in the Virus C or B although I'm not 100% on that. |

I should also add that having more DSP doesn't guarantee better sound, it just means the synth can perform more calculations faster - something which the Ti needs now it has the hypersaw and all these oscillators going off at the same time.

Not to mention the multiple delays/reverbs. Big dsp eaters.
