How do I? .... Patchnames in Cubase SX
First post HEHE! Ok I got a KC, Yes works killer gotta love this synth. I saved for 3 years! I'm using Cubase SX 2.0.35 and I downloaded the Patchname Defs for the Virus C for Cubase SX in the Access DOWNLOADS Section. Cubase SX works great so far with my Virus KC. Triggers well and plays fine in both Single and Multi Mode. How do I install these patch names? I saw in the Midi Devices "Install Instument" Pull Down Menu there's Virus A and B kB sets ups but no Virus C kC... I don't understand what I am supposed to do with the .txt file from the Zip I downloaded. I don't see any instructions in the Zip file on how to use them. I know you guys can help and I did a search already but I got a million results and not any related to what I'm talking about. Thanks! RenderGod |
Just ignore the patchnames...they are useless because I update the virus with new sounds quite a bit so then the file just becomes pointless. Use the MIDI out port on the output list to link to the virus instead of telling cubase you have a virus c installed. Works fine for me

You have to put the txt file into your patch names folder, into the active section and then when you install a new MIDI device, you can now see the option for Virus C
Then, you can use soundiver to update anything (names etc) Oh, and by the way.... ~Welcome to Planet Virus~ :) |
You mean.....
Thanks for the fast replies.
I want the names for Banks C-H since they are factory. I make and move around sounds from banks A and B. Sorry I didn't see a Active Folder... I see...... Cubase /Scripts/patchnames/inactive/virus And a few other directories from other Companies in /inactive Could you please explain more? I put the file in both the Patchnames directory and in the inactive folders but each time it shows the same list when I click on Install Device. Can someone explain in more detail what to do? Thanks! |
What version of cubase are you using????
When I first got SX I put the patch script in the "Active" folder, but then I upgraded to SX2, and I couldnt work out why my patch names werent showing. Then, I found a seperate "Active" folder for SX2! Try that.... |
K, mate - i help u out:
try to copy that *.txt File with ur Patchnames ,ever u have such one, to: C:\Documents and Settings\"ur Account"\Application Data\Steinberg\Cubase SX 2\Scripts\Patchnames\inactive ---> btw , i dunno if the folder application data is called like this coz i have translated that path from german ..... @ my computer its called: C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Mallatin\Anwendungsdaten\Steinberg\Cubase SX 2\Scripts\Patchnames\inactive whereas Mallatin is my Username and "Anwendungsdaten" is " application data"!!! so - i hope this helps u out and fixes ur Problem.... have fun then Cheers ===FFW===>> |

shareware application which works like soundiver for lots of different synths, and the virus being 1 of them.
it will scan you virus colllect the patch names and then can create an .xml file which cubase will understand and be updated. |
