Soundiver with Virus

are most of you using the version of soundiver that comes with your virus to control your virus and save settings or some other program?

soundiver works fine for me...

jasedee 19.03.2005 06:04 AM

Yup....I use Sound Diver (Mac OSX). Works great!!!

Don't use it at all. Why mess with it when you have a million knobs in front of our face. It is understandable if you have the XL or rack, or even are doing patch management, but to make patches, use the interface. If you want a virtual virus, get the powercore version.

Yep, same veiw of it here too.

Why do you ask though Doc?

Actually I was referring to it in terms of patch management - ie moving sounds around and storing them on my computer. I've had alot of problems transferring sounds using soundiver where it will freeze and hang during a simple sound transfer (let alone a full bank) so I have been recording the individual sounds as sysex in cubase. Last night I had been twiddling with the knobs for a few hours and came up with a fantastic sound, but couldn't remember exactly all the settings I had changed to achieve it. This is where I am guessing soundiver would come in as once I open the sound I had been tweaking in memory into soundiver - I would get a shot of all of the parameters and their values, correct? The problem is that it keeps freezing sporadically and I am afraid to lose my work. I think the problem has to do with my midex 8. So I suppose my questions are
1. Anyone using a midex 8 with Soundiver without any problems and
2. The people who are using Soundiver w/o problems, are you using the full blown version of the program or the limited edition one that ships with the virus synth? Thanks.

I got the same shit with sounddiver hanging, doing strange thing, etc. so i don?t use it at all now :?

I hate sounddiver. It was always slow and buggy and I have a decent Pc so thats not to blame but it also messed up with of my stored patches. Like Merlot said, use the virus' interface, its much better.

Doc Jones 19.03.2005 05:32 PM

ok, good to know it isn't just me.
So do you guys just store you newly made sounds in your sequencer using Sysex transfers (for safe keeping)?

Well first of all i wanna say i am new here to this forum, greetings to everyone.

Here is my experience concerning Sounddiver , my Virus C Rack XL and Midex 3 interface: when i worked with sounddiver, i noticed that i can send some single patches into my virus, but going into multimode and requesting complete banks and so on sounddiver crashed and i couldnt kill the task even in the task manager ! So i changed simply the midi-interface into a Midisport USB 2x2. This is working so good , it is freaking awesome! I can even work simultaneosly with Sounddiver and Cubase SX. I am working under WIN XP Pro, P4 and a Intel Mobo (Asus p4p800), using Sounddiver Virus.
