Above & Beyond virus b!
hey this is probably a noob question ;) but can you tell me what all the cables connected to their virus (not the midi in/out cables) is good for..? are they connected to their mixer.. or how does it work.. ?
thx! ![]() |
Re: Above & Beyond virus b!
With only MIDI cables connected you wouldn't hear a thing from the synth. MIDI is jsut a control signal. The audio cables very likely go to a mixer or to a soundcard.

Yeah, it looks like a full on "loom" there. (8 cables together)
The virus has 6 individual mono outputs, and 2 audio inputs. |

well does it mean you can have virus sounds on different mixer channels? how many is possible? like bass on one and lead on another channel ? :) |
exacly.
you can define which of the outputs the channel will use. |
Yep, you can even split the effects from the synth-part and run them out on a seperate channel too.

MIDI
Did you know?
MIDI is 1 's and 0's! 001110000101010000010001110000 0100001010101000001010101010101 That could be a midi signal!!! |
If I remember right, they send everything to the computer (running logic) first for effects processing (they have UAD1 for example and use it alot) and use the analog desk to finally mix the whole project. They don't use the Logic's digital summing but send all the tracks to the desk and mix in analog form. They may output some of the synths directly to the desk too but I'm not 100% sure.
Kill me if I'm wrong. In fact that's something I will do someday too... |
analog summing is nice...
some people pay top dollars for an analog summing device. |
