anyone use Csound around here?
looking to get started and need some help.
|
I am interested in this also. What will you be using CSound for?
|
for a long time ive been wanting to get into low level synthesis and programing.
right now i want to achive basic operation of the software and start learning it step by step. its gone take time but at the end of it i can see myself building complex synths and effects using different methods. granular realy apeals to me. just to point out: i have no past backround in programing. im still not sure where to begin. how about you mate? i also thought about ordering "the csound book" but we will see... |
What about starting from C. Get a C programming gudie book from your local library and study the basic syntax of C (looping, conditional statements, functions, etc). Much more comfortable to continue to Csound from there.
Also on that C period you notice are your brains twisted enough for programming - Afterall programming is pure cold logic, maths and planning algortihms inside your cranium. If you have problems in mathemathical "machine-like" thinking, you have a long rocky road ahead. |
im not a quiter! :D

I find Csound alittle too hard for my level...

ok Csound theard coming back to life!
still havent started on the "Big C learning project" but i found this: http://music.ucdavis.edu/re4m/cecilia/default.html this software was developed so users with no hint on programing will still be able to use and apply Csound prossesing power. so you got some very nice tools like time tools-warps,shifters,strechers and everything is done on a time line graph which kind of remained me of KYMA 8O its late so i just had few attemps on how it sounds and i must say it sounds great. :) few stuff i dont like about Csound\Cecilia is that its non real time :( everything is done by offline rendering and in the end you get an output WAV file. i still see use in this as Unprocessed Wav -> Csound prossesing -> processedWAV -> Further editing and use in sequencer. Ok i give up!! can you guys loan me 4k for a kyma system?? anyone? |
