Vintage?

techno_7 06.06.2005 11:27 AM

Damn.

Doesnt vintage mean physical?

Hollowcell 06.06.2005 12:16 PM

There's not really any need for plug-in ROMs, when it's easy to install new banks from standard midi sysex. Expansion cards are usually for machines that need wave data.

As per dictionary.com:

Of the best: played songs that were vintage Cole Porter.
Of the most distinctive: ?Fatalism has coexisted with vintage American overconfidence? (Thomas Oliphant).
I bolded/italicized the portions of the definition that could be specific to the Virus synth.

Maybe you meant "hardware" or "virtual analog" synth?

OK, here is where I have a question.

I have often wondered as to what the compatibility of foreign synth patches with Virii were.

For instance, several synths can create patches via MIDI Sysex, right?

So, if someone creates a cool set of banks on an "ABC123" synth and then dumps it into MIDI Sysex, can I load it into my Virus C?

AND

If it can load will I have the same power over those presets via the multitude of knobs, FX, filters, OSC, etc. as I do on "native" Virus patches?

Oh pleeeeeeease say yes! 8O

in thory the patch midi data is just parameter data and "instructions" to this parameters.

how about trying and let us know

Onkel Dunkel 06.06.2005 02:10 PM

I don?t think it will work. Some parameters may mean one thing in the Virus and another in the "ABC123" synth.
