using TI effects in cubase

hi everyone!

noob questions incoming..
instead of using CPU hungry and often shitty VST plugins (delay, reverb mainly) on midi/audio tracks in cubase, can i apply the built in effects in the TI?

and if yes, how good are these effects? spcially reverbs are hard to make sound good in software.

regards,
klaus

As far as built in effects go on synths Id say that the Virus's are the most comprehensive, well implemented and nicest sounding. For me the Virus's Phaser and chorus are the highlights followed by the delays and reverbs.

Its funny, but i actually really like the 'sound' of the chorus. To my ears its nicer sounding than the reletively dry and gritty chorus on my Lexicon. Phaser is very pleasing too. Reverb is better on my lexicon (no suprise there!) but the delays stand up well.

All in all...the virus could be used for processing....definitely.

excellent! thank you DS :)

more questions then.. can i apply both reverb and delay on the same midi/audio channel? (or must i first apply delay, bounce to audio, then apply reverb)..

how many channels can run virus effects on at the same time?

cheers,
klaus

I think it can run all 16 channels with full effects. But yes, you'll have to bounce tracks if you want both delay and reverb at same time. The TI addresses this and allows both delay AND reverb.

what if i use delay and reverb on two separate FX folder tracks in Cubase? Cant i then use these as inserts on several tracks in the project?

Im afraid I cant comment on that....as I have very little experience using the Virus with computers. Im sure someone else in here will give you a speedy response to that more specific question 8)

I don't think you can use the TI's effects for any other than TI channels. I think that's what you meant in the first post.

hmm.. so if i have a drumloop in cubase, i cannot use the TI reverb on it if i wish? ... i can only use it on the TI sounds.. did i get this right?

No, you can run drum loops or anything into the Virus TI's inputs and apply the internal effects or filters.

Yes, but you cannot use the TI's effects as plugins.
