Patch Recall issue with ver 1.06R2 - Confirmed
can anyone with a similar setup (cubase sx 3.1 and TI 1.06r2 confirm?)
Essentially since upgrading to 1.06r2 I can no longer confidently save my tweaked sounds when saving a cubase song (could do this before). I basically would create a new song in cubase, open the virus TI and load a sound into 1 or more parts, tweak the sounds to my liking, make a groove, save the song in cubase and then close out. When I reload the same song, the TI loads with the right patch, but the sound is all messed up, its like it added massive distortion, delay etc to the patch. I basically have to redo the patch from scratch which drives me nuts as sometimes I tweak a sound for an hour or two looking for "that sound". I have confirmed this with other songs as well, even just minimizing one song in cubase, opening another - making a new song, then when going back to the first minimized song (with ti patch) the ti patch is all hosed up. Can anyone confirm this? I am currently just using the TI via usb, but may switch back over to midi cable for reliable sysex transfers of tweaked sounds. (This really stinks as I lost a really good song - can't remember the tweaking I did to get the sound I was using) My specs - Windows XP SP2 | P4 3.0 | 2.0GB Ram | Sata Drives | Echo Layla 24 | 3xUad-1 | Cubase SX 3.1 | Virus TI 1.06r2 |
ok, I am not one to complain just for the sake of it, but man this really has pissed me off. I just tried getting one of my sounds back, I can get close, but no cigar. I just had two people who heard the original song, say "it still sounds real good, but it's not quite the same". ARRGHHH.
ok, end of rant. |
Doc, I can emulate a 'forget' using Virus Control to edit FILTER ENVELOPE - ATTACK. Save and load goes back to other attack.
The work around for this is to edit using the front panel of your TI then edit FILTER ENVELOPE - ATTACk, this is then saved properly in your Cubase song. As for the exploding distortion notes, this happens if you play a note to the TI when its loading Virus Control. Sometimes it triggers a note by itself. Press PANIC and it goes away. I'll see if my pre 1.06 r2 load ok and post back. |
thanks for looking into this grs. are you using cubase sx 3.1 as well?

Yes

ok, here is the latest - same exact issue. I can confirm this over and over again and with simple tests. Open new song in cubase, load up the virus TI, select sound for TI, record midi part - everything is great. (no tweaking of sound). Close song in cubase, then reload and now sound is really messed up -detuned, distorted etc.
Here is what I did to try to fix this 1. Reinstalled 1.06 drivers/software and firmware - no good. 2. Uninstalled 1.06 and went down to 1.05 software/drivers - no good. 3. Reinstalled 1.05 this time with firmware - no good. 4. Reinstalled cubase 3.1 - no good 5. Installed cubase 3.1.1.944 update - no good. 6. Reinstalled 1.06 drivers/software and firmware - no good. 7. Tried a new usb port - no good. I have just wasted a whole night/possibly lost a few good songs and now need to start over for a song that HAS to be completed in about two weeks. Besides this issue, my system is running flawlessly with everything else - hardware/software. My computer is a dedicated daw and is not connected to the internet. Plus my virus is plugged into a highend surge/ups. As you can see, slightly frustrated here. Any suggestions very much welcome!!! |
8. Just tried using the external analog outs of the virus (instead of the usb for audio) - no good.
Essentially, everything sounds great when I load it up and play it. Record midi in cubase and playback - great. It's when I close the song and reload it where the problem comes in. It sounds like the oscillators get hosed with the reload. ok, enough troubleshooting for tonight! |
This is very strange, Doc - I have no trouble reloading a project in SX3 here.
When you load the song, do the sounds 'look' the same in the VC? |

What build of the VC does it show on the Common page, out of interest? |
