recording automation in logic 5.5
 

is there any way to record your knob twiddling using virus control in logic 5.5?

id like ot be able to hit record and twiddle away but this doesnt seem to do anything.

i am asking this question for osv1.06r2..not sure if its a known issue or not or if its been addressed in 1.07.

im a logic 5.5 PC user

just upgraded to 1.07 figured the 3 softknobs would now be able to be automated.

no love 1.07 gives me crazy audio pops and crackles and nothing is able to be automated.

1.07 was a step backwards. it doesnt seem like anything was really fixed for me. im going back to 1.06

Wots up....We have been automating with the softknobs since we got the Ti (Logic 5.5.1) :roll:

I guess you're talking about the soft knobs and in this case you're right.
those currently don't record into automation. every other knob (apart from
master volume) does. the issue with the soft knobs is known and will be
fixed within one of the next sub-releases. there is a workaround though: use
the softknobs on the easy page instead, they do record into automation.

We assign a Parameter to a softknob then draw in the automation.
Ain't that what you mean?? How else are you suppose to Automate a softknob

LOL. twisting the knob is the way u are supposed to do it. then u tweak the recorded automation to perfection.

Of course we twist the knob 1st, then when we find what we want we draw in the automation.....

i have the same problem here..
but another question.
How to assign a function to a SOFTKNOB?

for example filtercutoff to softknob 2 ?

I've just this second Automated the some parts in the Logic 5.5.1 Seqencer by twisting the Knobs you can only see this on the Virus channel/part which is set to Midi 1 in your logic 5.5.1 and you can only automate Cutoff and Resonance at this point in time,as far as i know.
I'm using OS 1.07..
you can automate other midi parts(1-16) in the Virus just select them within the VC and off you go again but All automation is only showed in the part with Midi 1 channel from the Virus,and it is like all automation within 5.5.1 just set the setting from Read to Touch within the settings for your Virus part within logic midi 1 of course...
Hope you know what i'm on about cause i've lost myself :wink:

select your part in Logic with your Virus part you want to softknob,say midi 7 on the virus then select within your automation settings the virus ti then you will find Softknobs/softknob 1 #7 this will set softknob one with midi 7 in your part so you can see the automation for editing (Drawing in the automation) then go into your VC and select midi 7 part select your Easy page within the VC and set your parameter you want to softknob 1...
