sound's altered when controlling my Indigo via Midi...

I'll try to explain my problem briefly.
I bought an Indigo months ago but haven't had much time these months and I'm a newbie regarding harwdware synths, so my learning curve with my Virus Indigo is slow.

well, my problem.

When I control my Virus Indigo via Midi, in FL Studio or Sonar for example, the sound is altered; sometimes almost imperceptible, sometimes slightly, sometimes dramatically. I don't know what's the cause of the problem. I have Local off selected, and Midi Panel as Int+Midi, and also tried Midi alone.
But same problem.

For example, I was playing a melody this morning using patch c12 called Basstard, and when I played my Virus alone it sounds good, but when I control it via Midi with the sequencers, the sound changes a lot, it gets a strange flangerish effect and I don't know why.

can someone help me? thanks in advance

If it's a 'flangerish' effect, it's probably caused by having Local set to On in the System menu. This means you will get a note directly from the keyboard, and one back from the sequencer as well.

Try switching it to Off and see if that helps.

no, no, I've already checked that. It's off.

I can even upload a sample of the same song played directly on the synth and played via Midi Out, to see the clear difference...

these are two exact sequences, one played by me on the virus synth, the other played via midi by the sequencer. difference in sound is striking.
well it seems I can't upload them here.,..

Origami: you can send them my way: madnes1@sympatico.ca
I will upload them on my server and make them available if you want :)

btw, I think this might be because you need to mute the channel in your soundcard's mixer.

Origami 07.01.2006 05:32 PM

It is muted. 8O

where could I upload both sequences for you to check it?

I'm trying many many sounds and sometimes it's imperceptible; but with this sound, for example, it's very very significant.

Well I just wanted to say that i've solved the problem; it had to do with velocity in my sequencer; thanks to those who tried to help me. :D
