Jungle DNB Detuned Bass sound?

How do you make that signature detuned bass sound heard in a lot of jungle and older DNB??
Maybe like a lot of jonny Ls bass from his first album...
Havent got a clip at the mo but can get if you dont know what Im talkin about!!
Im sure its pretty easy but when I detune oscillators against each other it doesnt seem to sound right!
Cheers guys for the great forum too!!

Im pretty sure I know what sound you are after, but Im afraid my programming skills arent as good as others on this forum.

You would probably get more answers if you did post a small clip of what you were after.

I have a feeling though that the bass sound you are looking for was probably done on an old analogue synth, maybe a mono synth.

Good luck!

Cheers,
I dont actually have a clip here

Is there no way to get that sound with the Ti?
:?

Cant help you there as I dont own a Ti...

But, Im sure you will get close. The Virus line are capable, you just need to know how to drive them. If you had a clip, someone like Tomer=Trance would be able to figure it out in a second

Prolly a stupid q but the biggest file i can post is 60kb.
How can I post it??

Yeah, best bet is to post a clip.

You need to upload something to an mp3 hosting site, then link us the mp3 here. You can't upload files dirrect to the forum.

Often though, with those big basslines in DnB there is a fair helping of processing. A saw with a square wave, then applying PWM is a good start. Layering, compression and FX would come next. It really does vary depending on the gear you have and the sound you want.

Post a clip and hopefully someone will be able to point you in the right dirrection.

i think he's talking about the classic hoover sound, which is usually programmed on its father synth => the roland alpha juno, especially in the older dnb & jungle stuff. Later, in more modern dnb styles (a la TeeBee or Cause for concern, a lot of other synths have been used for that sound)

But a lot of other synth - virus included -are capable of reproducing it : basically it is detuned square oscs with pwm.
You can also use Junglis/Hydra for that sound, they are used a lot in the dnb productions.

;)

Took a long while for the page to show up, so others trying to D/L, just be a little patient.

Thats some hectic DnB, things have changed alot since I used to listen to it. OT: Do you like the new Pendulum Album????

After listening to the sound, I came up with something similar using my Yamaha CS-10 analogue mono. All it needs is a little distortion, compression etc..

Your Ti should be very capable of acheiving close to this sound, just get in there and experiment

I tried to get in there and listen, but so many adds and redirections took hold of me, I gave up.

Maybe I'll give it another try tomorrow.
