The SH201 is TI-able.

And the price is.....

Looks ok for the price, nice that it has the vsti element also. From the video it sounds very jp80xx-esque, lovely high freqs with the filter open full. Obviously nothing ground breaking but the fact it has a vsti front end and can run the audio/midi over a usb connection is pretty cool. Will deffo be checking it out when its scheduled for release in June.......like the sound of that radias also :)

Looks shithouse. I can think of heaps of better things you could do with US$600. I would say an ION would be a much better decision.

It is based on the V-Synth, but without COSM FX/Modelling. MEH!!!

didnt like the sh201 too much ,i already have a varios and a jp8080 rack so I prefere the korg radius. Anyone notice how they gave it a similar filtering system as the virus ?

Korgs website has some demos from it , it sounds really nice .

might have to add one of those to my arsenal later this year.

I did notice they said that the plugin can be used as a standalone editor application as well :)

In fact I like that Roland priced this synth this low. Maybe some other companies could learn from it too. I have decided not to invest so much money on synths anymore. I won't buy synths which cost over $1000 anymore. I definitely won't buy the SH, but it would be interesting to see how their usb integration works compared to TI's.

Yeh - nice change in the light of Korg pushing their prices as high as possible.

Kind of interesting pricing considering this has to be similar to a VariOs box PLUS a keyboard, interface etc.

Maybe VariOs has a much more powerful CPU, and the V-Synth way more powerful too.


Maybe they just aiming for volume, so less markup per unit...

We are looking at the future,
soon these hardware boxes will act only as dongle and controllers and the sound itself will be generated by your DAW's CPU (i belive the companies will still want to keep the DACs on the hardware tho)
