MPC 1000 for pro Trance????

I was wondering would an MPC 1000 be good for pro trance (Drum tracks)??? And for seqeuncing?????Let me know

Regardless, anything can be "pro"... even something as lo-fi as a C64 SID chip... it depends how you use it, and how it will be integrated and/or supported with the rest of your setup. In your case it also heavily depends on the samples you put into the sampler, for example.

IMHO, in general, the term "pro" on its own is vague, misleading, overused, and abused.

Ahh, gear lust...

I wouldn't buy an MPC for trance beats really - no need. MPCs are great for triggering beats and samples live. Trance usually has very tight quantizing and straight paterns - step programming a softsampler would probably be more useful for you.

Ok in reply to TIMO: when I say pro I mean shit like 'Paul Van Dyk' in response to hollowcell: I am really trying to stay away from computer's ie;Soft synth's etc............I am looking for a hardware seqeuncer that you can edit the hell out of what you have put into it.......and as far as drums I am looking for the sound quality of .....well 'Paul Van Dyk'again.....well let me know......SEEYA

OK, I should have read the original post more clearly.

Well the MPCs have a pretty well spec'd sequencer for sure - 32 channels of Midi on two outs and great resolution. I haven't had hands on experience though, but I wouldn't mind trying one out.

The sounds would come down to what you put into the thing.

If you do end up grabbing one, let us know how it goes. :D

OK...... anyone know any good (construction kit format) sample cd's for trance?

Tomer=Trance 14.02.2006 10:20 AM

try the "vengence sound" cds.

TeenGirlLust 14.02.2006 10:38 AM

I have heard of 'Vengence' before......I know that they make sounds for the Virus...........anyone have any experiance with the sample cd's.......if so what is your opinion????????Are there a lot of drum construction kit's????

Hollowcell 14.02.2006 11:17 PM

There are many sample disks for Trance style beats. They are probably most straight forward to create.

Have you thought about getting a drum machine instead?

I have a Korg EM-1 (and to tell you the truth it has the best sounding dance drums :P out of everything I have ever used). I have used : Kurzweil k-2000-Boss DR5 , Dr550 , Alesis sr16,Roland u220,mc303,mc505, Yamaha RM1x ,Korg Er1 (Yes I think the pcm drum sounds in the EM-1 are better than the ER-1) . I have never played with Jomox or The Novation drumstation yet thou.I am looking for that night club sounding drums (Paul Van Dyk and Aura come to mind the most). Also I have never played with a real Tr 909 or tr808 before .I know Aura use sample's off thier Yamaha A3000 (sampler)......so I know samples can do it.......I just have to find the samples........any ideas?
