Using 3 monitors with G5

Attention all Apple users!

Just wondering, is it possible to set up 3 flat screen monitors with my G5? I have 2 at the moment, and have come across another one. What do I need to make it happen?

Cheers!

i belive you will need a new graphics card that supports Quad or 3 outputs.

Jase why dont you just get one massive monitor rather than 2 or 3. Whats the benefit of 3?

I dont think you'll find any trippple or quad supported graphics cards on the market just yet. And if you did they are likely to be noisy as hell, high end and highly expensive

The cost is the main issue. Also, I already have 2 15" flat screens, and I was just given a 17" flat screen. If I wanted a massive flat screen, I would have to fork out a few thousand for it, which is out of the question. I would rather spend that kind of money on an analogue synth!!!

As far as I know, there is no real benefit to 3 monitors over 1. Just that 1 big one costs heaps. Oh wait, I can have 2 screens in front of me, 1 to the side. You cant do that with just 1 flat screen. Also, I can have them at different angles. And I can have each application bigger if I have 3 screens.

I only ask cos the latest ProTools HD advertising has a pic with three separate monitors. I thought it was easy to do, but looks like these graphics cards are expensive too.

I'm running an AGP G450 from Matrox. Not great for 3D, but excellent for for 2D applications. It's a duel-header and it's well supported and widely used. I know Matrox do quad-headers too now.

The Matrox stuff is quite cheap, because they aren't trying to appeal for gamers, just people who want 2D graphics over multiple displays.
