Making that Dynamically 'Ebbing' Trance Pad
Hey there guys, just after a bit of advice! I've been writing for a while now but recently bought a Virus KC; I'm certainly not a synth programming expert but I just about know enough to get me by! Anyway, I'm trying to create that pulsing sound that you find on trance pads; very stereotypical trance I guess.
It sounds as though an LFO has been used to sync the overall volume of a patch so it cycles every 1\4 bar.... So you get a constant very short, sharp fade-in fade-out of a pad sound that stays in time with a beat. I hope you know what I mean! Here's a sample of that kind of thing in use: http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF204124-01-02-19.mp3 In the background the pads basically ebb-and-flow dynamically; sorry it's so poor quality, I can get a better one if necessary. For anyone who knows the track the lead of Valentino Kanzyani - Nueva York basically does this through the whole track! Any advice would be well appreciated because the patches I've tampered with sound bloody awful, haha! Thanks very much! :) |
sounds like side chain compression to me.
could also be a sine shaped Lfo modulating Main Volume, this would creat a similler "effect". about accualy programing it,i would try doing a search there are some recipices for trance leads and pads in older theards. |
Thats just a badly pumping compressor.
A bit overcooked for my taste... |

May well be a badly pumped compressor but it tickles my kipper, :P
Thanks for the help guys, will get cracking now. And as for the girl next door.... LEGEND! :D |
