The Tips Topic

Right, time to get proactive after all the bitching and moaning that is quite simply getting us all down.

Lets get that mojo going again!

!This topic is for tips and inspiration only!

Apart from this post, please only reply by sharing positive sound creating experiences you have had with your TI (or any other Virus strain). I am hoping that each post on to this topic provides us with new inspirational resource for sound developing ideas!

No matter how simple, how basic the suggestion is, just add it below - it doesn't matter cause every reply will simply be a new idea, so no-one is to scoff or remark on other suggestions unless posting one of their own!

Right, go!

Hmmmm...

Well I have unplugged the USB/MIDI cables and I am using my TI in standalone mode (until OS 1.10) and I am creating new patches.

I have fucked about with the EPStage patch on the TI and created a great sounding highly playable retro-vintage-Rhodes-Piano sound. I think I have been playing with the same patch for about a week.

Need to sleep now...

TI as a saturated transient shaper (sounds a bit like an overdriven compressor):

Setup an input patch (ROM A-125), with input follower active. basically gives you an envelope of the incoming sound level.

Set filter mode to analogue, select filter combo of choice.

Setup a slot in the mod matrix sourced from filter env, with desitinations as:

Patch volume - -30 to -60.
Osc Volume - try +5, to +15 for light overdrive style sat

Now play with attack/decay knobs - these effectively set your 'compressor' attack/release. Try At=25, De=85, Sus=110 as a starting point for processing pianos, also tweak the mod -ve send amount to patch vol

Abuse filters and other fx to taste - if abusing a piano - add loads of reverb, long decay, no damping and tweak the eq :)

Last night I made a patch that sounds similar to a Moog-patch that I listened to at the Moog site...

They call it "Sweet Voyager lead sound".

Maybe there is a similar sound in the TI already...who cares...

I?m still learning and I dont?have a clue what i did!! I had a great time...!

and...NO PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH THE DESKTOP...and my wife even served me coffee as well...

F*ck, man it sounds great!!

your wife tolerates you playing with your synth instead of her?
don't you interpret her bringing you coffe as a sign of envy?
And don't you feel like a fag sitting in front of your synth with your wive at home at the same time?
