microwave xt vs virus ti

hello

what synth has the most possibilities for wavetables ?

1) Waldorf Microwave Xt
2) Waldorf Q
3) Access Virus Ti

does the q have more wavetables as the microwave xt ?

thx

with the microwave XT you can upload your own wavetables using a software editor,on the virus TI and Q you have a set bank of waveforms with no option for user upload.

However,
Wavetables are a 20 year old cul-de-sac in synthesis.
A closed finite synthesis method, unable to approach the true complexity of pure synthesis.
If you are looking for new horizons fourier-source granular synthesis is the natural sucessor to steam-driven wavetable synths.

At the end of the day, if you like what your ears hear, go with it, all methods justify the end result in this case.

I guess the XT beats the 2 other synths here. Q has only 2 wavetables and the sweeps are not so smooth because the waves included change so dramatically when you sweep the table (if I remember right). XT has at least 32 wavetables and includes user wavetables. You can build your own wavetables from only 2 waves. At least using sounddiver the 2 waves get interpolated to make a smooth wavetable. I guess that you can also tweak and mess with these wavetables most with an XT. It can do some really weird sounds. Don't know much about the TI's wavetable capabilities but XT is specialized in wavetables and I can say it's a beast in those sounds.

edit. XT has 64 rom wavetables + 32 user, 64 waves per wavetable.

If you intend buying a synth for it's wavetables, forget the TI as soon as possible... although 79 wavetables, they aren't versatile and most of them just plain unusable IMHO

some nice filter action dude! ;-)

If only the DX had filters! But you can simulate sidebands with the various modulater tunings and volumes

Ive run some DX bass through a Pro-One filter.....quite nice...

Thx for checking it out

Not to mention that there is no dedicated envelope to sweep those wavetables.
