random filter setting on keyboard press
Can this be done so that if I am playing a fast riff on the keyboard, the filter shifts randomly on each key press, creating a stepped sort of sound ?
Thinking about it, I could probably relate keyboard velocity to the filter, but I am not sure how. Any ideas guys? |
Me personally....
I would open maybe 4 or more virus tracks (depending on how often your filter settings change) if each note has a different setting on each keypress/Note then assign note 1 to track 1,2 to track 2,3 to track 3,4 to track 4 and then start over again note 5 back to track 1... If you have to many parts in your project open for this then bounce to audio. we had this problem with VSTi?s in past projects as the Filter sweep was to quick and you could hear it going wwwwwwuuuuppppppp.and that isn't what you want is it !!! Abit of advice,it gets quite complex so don?t have a beer while doing it |
easy.. pick an LFO (preferably #2), set the shape to S&H, set the rate all the way to 127, set it to envelope mode and assign it to one (or both) of your filters.

Or just use mod matrix and set source = random :)

for some reason i was under the impression that the random source constantly updated, i guess i was wrong :P

Thanks Tumult, I'll give that a go!

why? Khazul's method is better.
