Windows XP install ???
I've been reading around alot lately,as i have been trying to install Xp with no service pack...so my drive is only recognising 137 Gigs of my S-ata harddrive..I have tried 48 bit LBA/SP2 update as someone mentioned but with no joy..i also got the Drive to the proper 298GB(320) with an old Win ME boot diskette (Fdisk etc etc) and formatted as NTFS.but when i then install XP on the recognised 320 gig harddrive..It only gives me the option of formatting the drive on install which deletes the raid driver installed from a diskette, which i need to go on after 1st reboot.....
Am i going to have to face up to the fact that if i want the full 320(298) GB ,i will have to get a windows XP install CD with SP 1 or 2????? |
When you installing XP, during the inital boot up it say press F6 if you want to include a 3rd party SCSI/RAID etc driver - so press F6. Then have the driver available on a floppy - the RAID vendor will probably provide some tool for creating a floppy for you.
Laster during the install it will ask you to stick the driver disk in, slurp it up and all will be well from that point on. Just did this last night on my pc after Cubase 4 upgrade hosed it. (Grrrr!). |

I also get the impression that is doesn't seem to recognise the harddrives 320 gigs and therefore not now what to do thus wanting to format!! To actually install windows i have to delete the partition and recreate a new one which is great but then once windows is installed it only has 137 Gigs harddrive... am i better getting rid of my arse scratching by getting hold of a WIn XP boot CD with sp1 oR 2??? |
