Mixer recommendations for Virus Ti

Hi all! :)

Glad to have found this forum, and i recognise some of the names from the old sunesha forum.

Anyway, my Ti desktop has now been ordered and i cant wait!

The reason i was really attracted to the Ti is because of the Virus Control plug-in.

From what iv'e read in the Logic 7 set up guide on the Access site i still might need a mixer to use with this because of latencey when playing through the virus control.

I'd like to know if anyone is using this just via USB without a mixer, or is it essential to use a mixer. If so can anyone recommend a mixer to use with this. I've not got too much space, so it can be a small mixer as the Virus will be the only external hardware used. Anything with in the range of ?500.

I wiil be running it on a Mac g5 Dual 2ghz with 2.5gb RAM with Logic Pro 7.

Thanks for any info!

For this and other DAW issues, I would recommend a Mackie Big knob. Speaker switching, volume control, headphones, and the ability to switch input sources. Sure there is a way to make the TI low latency through the plug in, but it is a pain to switch back and forth.

Welcome Dave,

I use my TI K without any latency issues via Virus Control.

I don't understand what problems you are anticipating. Does Logic not have auto delay compensation???

Thats good to hear! Maybe i just didnt understand what i read in the Logic set up guide from the access site, as i have no experience with hardware synths previously.

I'll see how i get on first when it arrives, and im sure i'll be back with more questions soon.

You have to get this:

If you use anything else, you may as well throw away your Virus, as audio quality will be greatly diminished.

This is of course not true!

You will probably find that when you are playing in the arrangement you want to do it via USB because a sequencer with automatic delay compensation will mean that the timing is sample accurate during playback.

When it comes to bounce the audio down you will want to take the audio out of the TI Analogue outs (better quality than via the USB) and record into the soundcard / mixer then soundcard / whatever (there is a button on the VC that quickly enables the output to pass through Analogue Out 1&2). You will then have to move the recorded part to start in the right place (to negate the natural latency induced my the soundcard).

I'm sure you'lll love it!
