(solved) Virus Classic backlight issue
I have been searching around for information, and have contacted tech-support via e-mail, but haven't gotten the answer I am looking for. So, here it goes...
I have a Virus Classic that is no longer in warranty. Recently, the backlight for the display has become erratic. It flickers on and off intermittently, although it sometimes fades out slowly. I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar problem, and what they did to fix it. Since the unit is out of warranty, I would like to service it myself. However, before I disassemble the unit, I would to know if there is a specific component I should be looking for (like a specific capacitor), or perhaps a certain solder joint. If anyone has had this problem, and has fixed it themselves, please let me know. Otherwise, I will just have to go with the trial and error method. Thanks, Blasten |
Check the solderjoints of the backlight LED. It should be rather easy to locate from the LCD PCB.

Thank you, sir.

Solder joints were fine. However, I cleaned the connector for the PCB, and then made sure it was connected tightly, and everything seems to be working fine for now.
