I'm sure some of us have played in gigging bands..
 

I've not played in a band for nearly 20 years! But, I was just thinking about when I did.

Big highs, deep lows!

My best - and last - band was me on guitar / backing vocals, accordian playing madman lead vocalist, his wife on bass and the best drummer in the world on, err, drums. We sounded like the B52's and the Talking Heads, though we hated the comparison at the time.

We played a major festival in Germany near Cologne where it fucking pissed down and I thought I might die of electrocution and an unforgettable gig in Eindhoven where we had more grass than Ireland.

Funny things: Once we had a support band whose singer climbed up on a PA tower and couldn't get down. Us being booked to play a place that turned out to be a really quiet expensive restaurant. We tried our best to play Johnny Cash songs all night.

Worst things: Driving the fucking van. I was always the van driver. Probably why I drink so much these days to make up for it.
