Where's this going?

Nowhere it seams. Iran say they where in iranian waters and want Britain to appolegise but they wont appolegise because they say that they where in iraki waters. It might end up with a military operation and an even worse relationship between the west and Iran. Does anyone smell another war comming up :(

So it looks like it was a political stunt for the Iranian president to gain popularity or a better world opinion???

How were they hostages?

Are the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay Hostages?

Whether Iran was justified detaining them or not is arguable, but they were in no way hostages.
