Midi Panel Destination?
I have my KC with local control set to off, and I just read this in the manual
MIDI PANEL DESTINATION - INTERNAL All types of control operations are sent directly to the VIRUS sound genera- tion components and not to the MIDI Out. -MIDI All types of control operations are sent exclusively to MIDI-Out, the internal signal path is severed. This position is equivalent to the classic Local Off function for the user in- terface. - INT+MIDI All types of control operations are sent directly to the VIRUS sound generation components and simultaneously to MIDI Out. now I dont understand which I should have set to if I need to hook this KC up to logic, my understanding is, with local control set to OFF, this is all I would need, but the manual is now saying different. Do I need to fix these settings? |
Set it to INT+MIDI and make sure that MIDI through is of in Logic (i don´t know logic so i don´t know how this is done). This way keys played, knob movements and buttons pressed are sent to both the synth engine and the MIDI out. Just make sure the MIDI through in Logic is off or you can experience trouble because the data sent to the MIDI out is returned from logic to the MIDI in so that the synth engine gets the same data twice with a short delay.

say I start the KC for scratch and all my settings are factory. I do this by holding the LFO button while starting the KC. Now, I have the KC correctly connected to the midi ports in my mt4 midi interface. I then set local control to OFF. logic is not receiving any MIDI from the KC. If I do a Reset of MIDI drivers it works, and my audio midi test it also works, but if I start messing with the single and multi mode settings, its stops sending MIDI for some reason. are there any other settings that need to be fixed? I understand not many people use logic here, but when using the KC with a sequencer , do I need to change any other settings besides local control to OFF? My main problem really is this KC keeps losing sync or something with logic, I plugged my SNII back in, and it works still, so I dont know if its logic, it seems as though my virus might be broken. I updated the OS to 6.5 and its still happening. but basically, what are the settings besides local off, that need to be tweaked in order for it to work correctly with todays sequencers. . Because here are mine I will post only the important ones Local - OFF Keyboard mode - multichannels MIDI DUMP TX - singlebank A MIDI DUMP RX - enable global channel - 1 Soft Thru - off ArpeggSend - off Clock RX - auto Midi Volume - enable ProgChange - enable MultiprgChg - dis Device ID - 1 Midi control - lopage contr Midi control - hipage arpeggiator - on delay - on memprotect - warn knob mode - jump knobdisplay - short ledmode - auto store to flash - store to bnk a-> c |
It should work with these setting. If you have another synth with MIDI you could try to connect MIDI out from the Virus to the MIDI in on the other synth and see if you can play the other synth with the Virus keyboard and knobs. If this works then your Virus works and the problem must be either your MIDI interface or something with Logic. Have you tried mailing Access?

By the way; if you choose to have local set to off you have to make sure that MIDI through is on in Logic if you want to play the Virus from it´s own keyboard (will oalso work with local: INT + MIDI and through off in Logic). Another thing needed is Clock RX: auto (you already got this one) and make sure that Logic sends MIDI clock to the Virus to keep in sync...
