This track doesn't really have the electronic vibe I reckon. Take away the thick verb, have real drums, use a warm live piano, and get rid of that bass, and you have a track. Just seems more like a "real" track than a computer built number.

Your voice has serious potential though Juho. Any chance of a few waves files to mess around with in the samplers? :)

Thanks for the feedback. The original piece actually was a slow orchestral piano song. Then it developed into this after a nightmare I had about this song. So you're absolutely right on the song being more "real" track. This should have had 80's feel, but it was lost in the process. Only the reverb remains...

Which bass you mean? The sub bass, the saw bass or that unison thingy, ähih. I kinda got carried away with the basslines.

Only imagination is the limit when I start to think of what you would do to those samples. I can do vocals for you if you wish, although I'll probably have to explain the results to people after you have resampled and rearranged the vocals.

Hollowcell 01.11.2007 01:31 AM

I meant the saw bass mainly.

Yeah, I reckon your voice would make some great bass and leads. Just a few samples of your bassiest vocals, plus some real angry stuff would be very cool! Of course an explanation and full credit would go your way for this kind of thing. :)

I really quite liked it. Clever programming, complimentary sounds, and it really swings along. Love the light portamento saw-type bass underpinning the track. Your vocal works really well, too.

Also checked out the other track 'Face Upon A Stone'. Absolutely LOVE THIS!! Can't stop playing it. Cranking the playback frequency up by say 4KHz to speed it up a bit and lift the pitch and it's in 'Oakenfold - Southern Sun' territory, especially during the chorus. Has massive commercial appeal, methinks!

How did you treat the vocals on this? I absolutely love the processing on it, both during the verses and moreso the chorus.

Is Jason Aldergrove an alter ego (alias) of your own, or a collaborator?

Both are great tunes.

Face Upon a Stone is an AWESOME track! I played this live at a bar DJ gig about a year or so ago and the crowd fucking loved it. Really a great song, props to Juho for that one!

:)

I created that saw sound with Massive. Just a plain saw with light saturation and portamento. It has weird Nord vs. Virus type of colour in it. It kinda cuts through, but not too much.

I though it had commercial appeal too, but somehow it didn't end up anywhere. Maybe I'm just crappy marketer. Hoho.

If I remember correctly it has feedbackish BlueTubes chorus with basic delay and reverb. On the chorus it's the same except the added extreme AutoTune - talking about clichés.

Aldergrove is a direct English translation of my surname and Jason is a sort of pseudonym of my first names.

It seems that everybody likes it more or less, but still it's not very popular.

I haven't got my computer here in Vantaa yet, so you'll have to wait.

Hollowcell 09.11.2007 02:41 AM

Yes I know, and cool, I'll wait. :)
