Mixing down TI - USB vs standard audio outs

Hi all,

Does the Virus TI provide a higher quality sound mixing down through the standard audio outputs vs mixing down through the USB/TI connection? I find the USB/TI mixdown can be handy & quick, but wondering if there's a sound quality difference.

Cheers,
EoN

Depends upon your definition of quality...

Just use whichever works best for you workflow/gear wise - I wouldnt worry about it.

I use either - cant say I particularly notice any difference and of there is - well thats probably down to whatever the analog outs of the TI is plugged into.

One case where you will notice a difference is if you are running the signal hot inside the TI - you may sometimes find that the analog out distortion character to be a tiny bit different to the distortion character that result purely for the soft-clipping. Thats just a standard artifact of converting clipped (even soft clipped) hot digital signals into analog. You usually have to be driving it very hot to actually notice though.
