So I just got my Virus Snow...
I came home with it at around 7 PM and its now 9:41.. and after the weirdest shit happening to my computer this little fucker is up and running...
and its AMAZING! :D:D:D Honestly guys.. this is my third hardware synth (previously owned a TR Rack, and currently own a Proteus 2000) and about 1k in software synths + a lot of free ones.. this thing is so far head of them all with sound like ive never heard even with endless tweaking of all of them.. but just a warning for those about to purchase one. . if you do not know a lot about your sequencer, your midi interface or even computers in general. . you WILL have problems.. . I consider myself to have "seen it all" in those fields, but installing this thing was a nightmare.. at one point my cd drive dissapeared.. ??? but after several reboots and reinstalls its running like a charm on os 2.7 and a windows based cubase platform... I will keep updating this thread with news if anything goes wrong... this thing really sings... |
...
Just wanted to add that BRAND NEW units are 1150$ in Toronto @ Long and Mcquade and Moog Music:cool:

Congratulations on the Snow!
You hear endless talk at kvr on how the virus is overpriced and even the free VSTs can do it all. Yeah right. Nothing sounds like a virus. Cheers, B |
Congrats on your snow :)
Never had any problems getting 2.7 to work with my TI-K here... (PC WinXP+SP3, Live 7/Cubase 4). We also have a snow connected to a mac-book-pro also with Live 7 - no problems with that either - I must be blessed or something... And yeh - there is no other synth like it :) |

And there's the hardcore saying they can make synth1 do anything a virus can :)
The biggest obstable is the high cost of a virus, although the Snow weakens that argument a bit. I think I could easily live with 4 parts myself. If I didn't already have a TI desktop, I would be getting a Snow right now. OK, bumps at first because the beta 2.7 is not perfect. And Total Integration doesn't work for everyone. But a notebook PC and a Snow is is a LOT of synth. Cheers, B |
for my workflow total integration is the best thing ever..
I am so happy with this thing, in a week ive got 2-3 really good tracks in the works. honestly, let people say anything they want... I wont ever let this thing go. . sometimes I just turn off my DAW and play synth lines just for enjoyment.. I never did that with previous synths (hard and soft), it was more a laborious thing where I had to play it because the song needed a bass/pad/sub etc.. |
Good stuff luke4421! I feel the same way about the virus TI. The only other digital synth which got me this excited was the JP8000, and the TI is vastly more capable. Its not just a trance machine, although it certainly is if you want it to be. Its also a fine ambient effects machine.
The sad news for you is that there are so many patches out there to listen to, both free and commercial. And if you are like me, you'll get fatigued and skip past a great sound the first few listens :) Cheers, B |
