Strange MIDI problem with Virus B
I signed up here last night with a feeling of dread as my Virus behaving really strange, in the back of my mind i was thinking i'd bought a damaged unit.
Basically it was changing random parameters when i turned a knob on the virus. Say i simply turned the filter cutoff control it would suddenly add loads of lfo mod matrix desinations, change patch vol, random amp and filter env settings. I since tried it on a different MIDI port (previous one was RME Fireface MIDI 2) and it seems ok now. So im very happy the Virus is not broken. But now im wondering what was causing this.. was my sequencer sending some strange midi control signals? Is there something wrong with the Fireface? Has this happened to anyone else here? Or is there anyone with a better understanding of MIDI who can explain what was happening? Any replies will be a massive help |
i have a virus classic (virtually the same as the virus B, only bright red)
and i too was using midi port 2 on my fireface 400. i have the same problem. every once in a while, ill be creating a new patch and suddenly the virus would go mad and totally scramble all the settings to something ramdom. its so frustrating im considering selling it. you said that you changed the midi port and the problems stopped, did you use your fireface midi port 1 instead? Cheers Chris |
Are you running a sequencer alongside it? Sounds like your Virus' are getting some rogue midi info somewhere along the line.

im running it with ableton live.
there does seem to be midi data being sent back to the virus when i turn a knob. however, ive looked at the midi routing settings in live, and everything seems to be ok. ill try it in cubase and see it stops......... |
I use a Fireface 800 a recent update says they fixed a midi out problem...!!!
