Virus TI2 25% extra processing power
 

Apologies if this has already been covered....perhaps you could point me to the thread...

I'm interested to know where the extra 25% power comes from? Streamlined algorithms or higher spec DSP? A combination of both?

Yes I would too!

I would guess faster DSPs, because otherwise applying the software update on mk1 models would also increase their processing efficiency.

the change is related to hardware improvements, not software.

Marc, what is your intention with the TI|2? Will it be your flagship for the next 4-5 years, like the TI was? Or is it merely a slight revision to the TI|1? Currently they both seem so similar, rather than a leap forward.

Are there any other hardware additions/changes other than the 25% increase in DSP?

Will you ever add more expression controllers (like a ribbon controller, XY pad, joystick, etc.)?

the new TI replaces the old one. it adds more power and outshines every synth we build so far. i'm not a fortune teller, so forgive me for simply not knowing what will be in 4-5 years.
as for the similarity, you wouldn't say that if we would have delivered OS3 exclusively for the new model. think about that.

So very true. Many companies would have taken the chance to launch the new features on the shiny new model only. I'm sure that in the fullness of time the TI2 will start to exceed the original TI, that's only natural, but for now Access need to be applauded 100% for supporting their current users.

True, but it isn't easy for existing owners to weigh up if the new TI is just more power of a true upgrade in the future. If you already own a TI you have to decide if it's worth selling your existing synth and then forking out alot more. If you knew it is for 25% more dsp power now but more in the future it would probably sway the argument. If its 25% now and no more then it's probably easier to accept the existing rig

I was hoping it would involve a change to the USB spec. I find it very strange that Access have not used the opportunity to move over to proper highspeed USB 2 support. After all, USB 3 is on the way pretty soon.
